Minturno Museum of Culture and Tradition

Minturno has an interesting museum of Culture and Tradition. It is called in Italian the “Museo Etnografico Aurunco”.  The museum has several rooms displaying numerous interesting exhibits which depict the way of life in days gone by, of the people who lived close to the River Garigliano. On exhibition in the museum there are a selection of traditional household implements.  There are also many tools and apparatus once used by farmers and country folk in the fields such as ploughs, rakes, wooden yokes for oxen, a wooden cart and harvesting equipment. There are other exhibits relating to fisherman and mariners and the production of wine and olive oil. Also there are examples of the many local crafts, items reflecting various occupations, traditional costumes and typical musical instruments.

The museum is run by the Associazione Culturale San Marco.
