The Historic Old Town of Sperlonga
The old part of town is a cluster of ancient whitewashed houses that huddle together on the hill of Colle San Magno. It is an absolute delight to explore the old town on foot. Here there is a labyrinth of narrow, winding, cobblestone alleys, stone archways and long winding staircases which meander throughout the historic part of the town. Indeed, there is something to be discovered around every single corner. Stone steps lead downwards, heading to the lower section of town, or meander into hidden little courtyards or suddenly reveal a breathtaking sea view. Delightful little squares are surrounded by an mixture of small colourful shops and trendy boutiques selling clothes, shoes handbags and antiques. There are also numerous little restaurants and bars to choose from, offering cooling refreshments and local gastronomic delights. Indeed there are many places where you can sit and rest awhile and take time to unwind, relax and soak up the wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere.
